Autumn is Rolling in
by Elijah
People here in Finland tend to look really forward to every
upcoming summer. It must be some sort of counterreaction after cold, long and dark winter
seasons. Still, Im really happy its over now. I think there are too many
expectations included in the summer time in Finland. And as its quite a short
period, youll never manage to fulfill all of them. In consequense people tend to be
a bit disappointed when autumn finally begins. Im, though, for the most relieved. No
more window washing for me this year, please.
The Everglades has suprised me (again) by training relatively
regularly for almost all the summer. Weve also done a whole lot of things, such as
recoding a new promo-ep and organizing the first Fock til You Pop -club in the
August. Expect to hear more of them later.
This kind of activity has also entailed the shortage of
money. In consequense Im having withdrawal symptoms of not buying any records. Any
one willing to relieve my pain and to donate good records, please do contact me. I promise
I will take in a loving home.
As the Everglades is once again spread here and there, I'm
trying to keep myself busy with other things. On of the most important thing to me is a
development cooperation project in the Kiwengwa village, the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The island is very popular tourist resort but the local people can't get any kind of
advantage of it, as all the hotels and restaurants are in european possession and
employees come from Europe. The hotels don't have basically any kind of waste disposal but
they wash their hands with buck-passing. The aim of our project is to help the local
people to make a cave and a nature trail to an ecologically sustainable tourist resort of
which all the profit would be directed towards the locals. Important things tend to demand
long clauses... For the moment, the project is proceeding accordingly to the plans. If
your interest awoke, visit our website! You can find the address from the links-section.
There are many good things to come for us later this year.
All of them are also important enough to deserve their own writings. So more of them in
the near future.
Wish you all the best,
Elijah |
